The Newcomer Learning Centre:

two women sitting together at a table.The Newcomer Learning Centre is on the 4th floor of Central Library. 
It has books, CDs and DVDs for learners and teachers of English as a second language. 
Anyone with a library card can borrow Newcomer Learning Centre materials.

The Newcomer Learning Centre Information Desk is open:

  • Monday to Thursday - 9:00 am to 8:00 pm 
  • Friday - 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • Saturday - 9:00 am to 5:00 pm 

*Please note that open hours may vary due to staff availability. 

One to One Tutoring:

Practise English face to face with a volunteer tutor. 
Meet two times a week for a total of four hours a week. 
Day, evening and weekend times are available at any library location.

English for Seniors:

Learn English with other seniors 55 years old and over in a small class.
Classes are Monday - Thursday mornings from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. 
You will practise speaking, listening and pronouncing words. 

To register to learn English you must be a Permanent Resident or a Protected Person.
