Is the library open?
We are opening four branches for Takeout service beginning June 23. Schedule an appointment to pick up your holds at either Central Library, Dundas, Red Hill or Terryberry branches.
Do I need to bring back my library items?
Items currently out are due back by July 31. You can also put your returns in one of our drop boxes at our 22 branches.
Will I be fined for overdue materials?
Fines will not accumulate this year.
Can I place holds again?
Yes. Visit hpl.ca to browse our titles and put items on hold. When they’re ready for pickup, schedule an appointment online — or call 905-546-3200 or chat on hpl.ca.
When can I pick up my holds?
When you receive a notice from HPL that your holds are ready, set up a pickup time at either Central Library, Dundas, Red Hill or Terryberry branches. How long can I borrow my library materials?
You’ll have four weeks to enjoy your items.
I returned my library materials but they still appear as overdue on my account.
Rest assured we received your items but we have a backlog of thousands of items to check in. Thank you for your patience. You will not be fined for the delay.
Will the Bookmobiles be on the road?
No, they will be parked until we can safely provide the service again.
Is the Visiting Library Service running?
This delivery service to library customers who are homebound or living in a residential facility will resume when our community is clear of the COVID-19 pandemic.

How long can I borrow an eBook/eAudiobook through OverDrive?
